Join Audrey Morris and Dalis Davidson (shepherds and neighbors) for a one day workshop, Saturday, February 16, 10-5, lunch included. Morning Session: Sheep to Yarn - taught by Audrey Experience the whole process of making yarn, from the raw fleece from our farm sheep to the finished garment. We'll first visit the sheep in the pasture, looking at length and crimp. Raw fiber from our sheep will be washed, picked, carded and spun in front of you. Learn about wool from different breeds of sheep and what each breed is best used for. Touch the collection of handspun from 30 different sheep breeds. For those who are interested, try spinning on either a drop spindle or spinning wheel.
Afternoon Session: It's a Good Day to Dye - Dalis Davidson
After lunch (provided by a local chef) Dalis will demonstrate the art of dyeing wool, silk, alpaca, mohair, tencel, various roving and even see the mystery of the indigo bath. Learn how the colors relate to one another, how they don't get 'muddy' and how the colors can overlap to create new colors.
